Wednesday July 2nd 2008
winds S/SW breezy lake calm 1' or less with a Beautiful Sunrise this morning.
Filmed with time lapsed HI-DEF photography by RAREFORMDIGITAL@yahoo.com
Catfish – Green Shrimp – Night crawlers. Have High numbers caught in all sizes by the nightly fisherman there.
White Bass – Minnows – Red Worms. Good eating, many caught no-one has gone home with an empty fishing bucket
Perch – doing great along the lighthouse wall. No complaints from anyone that I have heard yet.
And last but not least Ol' Wild One-Eyed Walleye Wille has yet to be on my hook so far this year from up on the pier.
He loves the food chase so much he wears a patch on one eye just to give his food a fair chance to run.
since April 20th, find the dry days since then this year and guess where I was or I am now after this post,,,somewhere with no internet live link ,,not yet anyways,,,keyword yet.

To My Son Chris,,my Dad,, & The Edgewater Crew...

Fishing In Hell

April 10, 2009 by merlin01

I survived another year, i'm 43 now, living in Hell, Michigan. Fishing my ass off, as much as i can. The eyes have fuzzed over near total snowball viewing, its very hard to put line in a hook or put worm on, let alone see the bobber but i have managed to catch fish. Many bluegill 6" to 8" and some nice action in the largemouth bass department too. So the next time someone tells you to "Go To Hell", you can tell them "NO, Merlin is there already, and he's catching fish ",,but feel free to bring fishing gear with you if you do get the urge to see HELL for yourself. It's full of evil drunks and bitchy demon people, but they stay away from me, They fear Wizards, with fishing rods. I informed them they can go fishing too, as bait.
Full Moon tonight, its been the usual, go fishing 2 minute walk to lake, cast out reel in, hope there is a fish, so far many times there is,,for up to date scores check the NAFC site.

yes even durring our current weather, with leftover hurricane winds and rain here in ohio,, and we can still catch fish, - but ide suggest only trying this if you are well prepared for some "Deadliest Catch" looking sized waves to come crashing you on the pier and rocks.

Shrimp Award

arrived at pier 9:30pm- 5 line casters report they been there since 5pm and the catch were small and few.
water temp 70- waves calm - slow breeze out of the south.
i cast out a line baited with worm and minnow within 5 minutes i land a fat forearm long cat, and soon to follow the rest of us land decent cats, now along comes lady with her basket, she gets set up to cast and opens what i would have to say had to be " the gates of hell" - bag of shrimp, just opening it she made 3 grown retired war veterans and my self turn green and gag for air-25ft away down wind - one was a u.s.navy korean vet the other two were marine and army vets, then add us 4 other younger guys to the near over the rail torpedo away lunch and dinner launch, after we regained our breaths, (which wasn't till after she closed the bag), i hear their comments of the odor, the judges comments were, " i wont eat the fish that eats a hook full of that","any fish that can eat that is one tough fish" when they asked her "good god what the hell is that?"

""she replies, its shrimp, a week old and the last 3 days out in the sun."(the temps have been in high to mid 90's all week)
but after her cast and her bait was in the water we all caught our fair share of arm long cats and gave her the fish, her basket was full at midnight.

i give her the best shrimp bait award this summer.
any bait that can make grown men gag and the tourists run for shore is an award winner.

an example of our fishing times,..

get to the lake at 8pm ,walk up on the pier at edgewater theres no fisherman, as soon as i baited up, one by one a few brave souls arrive all saying the same thing " i wasnt gonna try it unless i seen someone else up there" so we cast away and let nature do her thing with our lines as we watched another pretty sunset in winds gusting over 25mph from the north/north east waves breaking over the rocks, white topped huge waves and swells over 10-ft.plus.
catching white bass,,,this lasted till 11pm,,then gradually the lake calmed down and winds relaxed enough to hear the person talking to you 5ft away, and it was "FISH ON" from then on, by 1:ooam we had a dozen line casters that stayed till 4am,, we filled everyones fish pails and coolers with forearm long catfish. as i was leaving this morning, i asked one of the old timers who showed up at 8am, "what did you eat for dinner last night", he replied macaroni and cheese", i asked what he wanted for lunch today he replies " i was hoping to catch me a couple little fish before the rain hits"", i open my cooler and i gave old man "Lucky" a full arm long catfish. he immediatly, packs up his gear, we filled what room was left in his pail with ice as i he says "i got me lunch and dinner" my thanks to you, today is my "LUCKY" day.

nightvision units so i can see in the dark to go rock hopping at edgewater.

Re: Cleveland Edgewater Pier Fishing

July 7th Monday.
Weather was perfect.
lake was asleep.
fished and hiked the rocks out to the inlet on north east of EYCmarina end.
3 mountain goats in the dark full gear.
full gear consists of 2 rods per person, a bucket, 3 bag sports chairs and cooler. items in each persons hands and slung gear over shoulders also,, now try being dropped in total darkness and get to the end of this stretch of rocks, laying and arranged in ways that would kill a montain goat.
the point you realize you're getting old is when you're now not able to see the rocks you're stepping on and jumping to in the dark.
the same rocks you were at one time earlier in life were like a ninja with.
with twice this much gear alone.
